About IACUC
IACUC
(Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee)
IACUC is responsible for oversight of the animal care and use program to follow the international guide of 'Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals'. Based on the 'Animal Protection Law' and 'Laboratory Animal Act', the committee is a mandatory installation for the animal testing facility. It aims to promote scientific, ethical use of animals, secure the welfare and protection of animal, and limit the unnecessary use of animal.

Protocol of the Committee
IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee)
- Comply with law, prepare and operate a guideline or regulation reflecting the law
- Based on the scientific validity and ethicality, review the animal testing plan fairly and transparently
- Secure the independency and autonomy for the operation of committee, meeting procedure and decision making
- Each member of committee is recognized with one's experience and knowledge and can state one's opinion independently
- Within the regulation guideline, the purpose and interest of planner of animal test can be fully considered for the review
- Improve the review guideline consistently to reflect the latest technology, information and secure the science and ethicality
- Members keep information or classified information obtained from the committee confidential
- All members must put effort to improve capability for fair review, and take relevant training regularly

Actions of Committee
To protect the test animals and promote ethical use, any animal testing facility declared by presidential decree must set up IACUC since 2007.
KIT-IACUC performs actions as below.- Inspection the facility that is used for care and use of animal
- Assess the animal care program and animal testing condition
- Review the animal testing plan of requested researches
- Set up an organization related to the use and care of animal
- Report to administrative manager of the institution
